10,000 Direct Jobs Expected from Northshore Apparel – Goosie Tanoh

The Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, Goosie Tanoh, has disclosed that Northshore Apparel is expected to create about 10,000 direct jobs when the factory reaches full production capacity.

Speaking at the opening of the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu on Friday, August 28, Mr Tanoh said the company’s employment strategy includes persons with disabilities, describing the initiative as a model for other businesses to emulate.

“At full capacity, North Shore Apparel expects to employ about 10,000 people directly. Among them will be persons with disabilities. This particular inclusion of differently abled persons in the workforce of North Shore Apparel is eminently commendable and a shining example for corporate Ghana to follow,” he said.

Beyond job creation, Mr Tanoh said the project has incorporated social facilities, including a clinic and a creche, to support employees and their families.

He added that the company was preparing to transition from a two-shift to a three-shift production system, which he said would provide a practical demonstration of the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

Mr Tanoh said the establishment of the factory in Savelugu also represented a significant shift from Ghana’s long-standing concentration of industrial activity in the southern part of the country.

According to him, the Northshore Apparel project demonstrates that export-oriented manufacturing can thrive in northern Ghana while creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people within their communities.

He said the development aligns with the government’s broader objective of decentralising economic activity and creating jobs across the country under the 24-Hour Economy programme and President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda.
