Staff of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) who reported to work ahead of the official 8:00 a.m. reporting time on Tuesday were rewarded with free breakfast as part of an initiative to promote punctuality, discipline and professionalism within the Assembly.
The initiative, led by the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, saw more than 100 breakfast packs distributed to staff who arrived at the Assembly’s offices before 6:30 a.m.

The breakfast included popular Ghanaian meals such as Hausa koko and koose, Tom Brown with bread, Eku Egbeemi and other breakfast options.
Speaking during the exercise, Mayor Allotey said the initiative was designed to recognise and encourage staff who demonstrated commitment to their duties by arriving at work early.
He stressed that punctuality was essential to effective public service delivery, noting that employees who arrive on time have an opportunity to properly prepare for their daily responsibilities.

According to the Mayor, improving service delivery at the Assembly requires more than adequate logistics and resources. He said it also depends on having a disciplined, motivated and committed workforce.
Mayor Allotey further explained that management was working to create an environment where dedication, punctuality and hard work are recognised and encouraged.
While acknowledging that staff are required to observe the Assembly’s official reporting time, he said recognising those who make the extra effort to arrive earlier could motivate others to develop similar habits.

The initiative forms part of efforts to promote a culture of responsibility, time consciousness and professionalism among AMA staff.
Mayor Allotey also reiterated his administration’s commitment to staff welfare and stronger internal administrative systems, describing these measures as part of the broader Reset agenda aimed at making the Accra Metropolitan Assembly more responsive, efficient and effective in serving the public.
