The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has urged residents and service users to report poor service delivery, staff misconduct and other grievances to its Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC) for investigation and appropriate redress.

The Chairman of the PRCC and Presiding Member of the AMA, Hon. Musah Ziyad, made the call as the Assembly joined the international observance of Customer Service Week 2026, held from October 5 to 9 under the theme “The Extra Mile.”

He said the PRCC provides an important accountability platform for residents to raise concerns about the conduct of AMA officials and challenges they encounter when accessing services.

Hon. Ziyad stressed that frontline and customer service officers represented the image of the Assembly and must therefore demonstrate professionalism, respect, courtesy and a willingness to assist the public.

He noted that good customer service went beyond processing payments and permits, urging staff to listen to complaints, provide appropriate assistance and treat residents with dignity.

He further explained that residents who felt they had been treated inappropriately by an AMA employee had the right to report the matter to the PRCC for examination.

The PRCC Chairman said the Committee was established under Section 26 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) and chaired by the Presiding Member of the Assembly.

Under Section 27 of the Act, the Committee is mandated to educate the public on the activities of the Assembly, promote transparency and accountability, investigate complaints against Assembly officials and employees, and examine allegations of administrative injustice, abuse or misuse of office and violations of fundamental human rights.

Hon. Ziyad emphasised that the PRCC was not only a complaints mechanism but also an important platform for strengthening transparency, accountability, fairness and public confidence in the AMA.
