The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has underscored the importance of reliable and credible data in shaping monetary policy, regulating the financial sector and supporting national development.

He made the remarks on Thursday, October 29, 2026, when he joined key stakeholders in Accra for the launch of the maiden edition of Ghana in Numbers 2025, an initiative by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

Speaking at the event, Dr Asiama emphasised that accurate statistical information is essential for understanding the country’s economic conditions, measuring progress and making informed policy decisions.

“Let us see Ghana in Numbers not merely as a statistical publication, but as a national resource for understanding our circumstances, evaluating our progress and making better decisions about our collective future,” he stated.

The Governor’s remarks highlighted the significance of data in helping policymakers assess economic trends, monitor developments in the financial sector and formulate policies based on credible evidence.

The Ghana in Numbers 2025 publication is expected to serve as a reference resource for policymakers, researchers, businesses and the general public by providing statistical information to support analysis and decision-making.

The launch also highlights the role of the Ghana Statistical Service in producing and disseminating official statistics to strengthen public understanding, accountability and evidence-based policymaking.

Dr Asiama’s participation reinforces the importance of collaboration between institutions responsible for economic management and national statistics in advancing Ghana’s development agenda.
