Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has welcomed Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA), to Bank Square for a Financial Health Leadership Roundtable.

The meeting focused on strengthening Ghana’s financial sector and ensuring that increased access to digital financial services translates into improved financial well-being for individuals and businesses.
Dr Asiama noted that Ghana has emerged as one of Africa’s leading digital finance markets, but stressed the need to ensure that financial inclusion goes beyond access to digital platforms.

He highlighted the importance of helping individuals build financial security through savings, insurance, pensions and responsible credit.
The Bank of Ghana Governor also called for greater innovation and the effective use of data to address financing challenges facing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), women and smallholder farmers.

He emphasised that closing the financing gap for these groups is essential to ensuring that more people and businesses benefit from the country’s growing digital financial ecosystem.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts to promote financial health and strengthen inclusive financial systems in Ghana.
