Bawumia engages young medical professionals and students on challenges in the health sector

NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has held discussions with representatives of Ghana’s young medical professionals and students to better understand the challenges affecting their training, career development and future prospects.

The engagement brought together the national leadership of the Junior Doctors Association (JDA), the Federation of Ghana Medical Students Association (FGMSA), as well as presidents of medical students’ associations from various parts of the country.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the medical professionals and students to raise concerns surrounding their experiences and the broader challenges facing young people pursuing careers in medicine.

Discussions focused on issues affecting medical education, professional development, working conditions and opportunities for young doctors and medical students.

Dr. Bawumia listened to the concerns raised and exchanged views with the representatives on possible approaches to addressing the difficulties confronting the next generation of medical professionals.

The engagement forms part of efforts to strengthen dialogue with key stakeholders in Ghana’s health sector and ensure that the concerns of young medical professionals and students are reflected in discussions on the country’s healthcare development.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of continued engagement between political leaders, healthcare professionals and students in finding sustainable solutions to challenges within the health sector.
