Calm restored at Larteh Ahenease following Odwira Festival disturbance

The Eastern Regional Police Command says calm has been restored at Larteh Ahenease following disturbances recorded during the celebration of the Odwira Festival on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
In a press release dated October 4, 2026, the Police Command said additional personnel had been deployed to the town to intensify security and maintain peace and order.
The Command said it was continuing engagements with relevant stakeholders to ensure lasting peace in Larteh and warned that individuals who breach the peace would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The Police did not provide further details on the nature or cause of the disturbances but assured residents and stakeholders of heightened security in the area.
The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Bridget Opoku of the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern Regional Police Command.
Authorities are expected to maintain the increased security presence as efforts continue to prevent further disturbances and ensure peace in the community.
