Cooperation in the Interest of Ghana: OSP calls for institutional unity in the fight against corruption

The fight against corruption must not become a competition between public institutions, but a collective effort aimed at protecting the interests of Ghana and its citizens.

Speaking on the need for cooperation, the Special Prosecutor (SP) emphasised that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) does not view the fight against corruption as a contest between institutions or an opportunity to pitch one public agency against another.

According to the SP, Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions share a common responsibility to safeguard the nation and promote good governance.

“It is one Republic of Ghana we all work for. So let us make her great and strong.”

The call highlights the importance of collaboration, mutual respect and coordination among state institutions. Rather than competing for recognition or authority, public agencies must work together, share relevant information and support efforts that advance the national interest.

Corruption undermines public confidence, weakens institutions and diverts resources away from national development. Tackling it effectively therefore requires a united front, with institutions working within their respective mandates while supporting one another where their responsibilities intersect.

The message from the OSP is clear: the fight against corruption is not about which institution wins. The ultimate victory belongs to Ghana when public institutions cooperate to protect the public purse, uphold accountability and strengthen the Republic.
