Dakuman residents cry for help as a faulty traffic light persists for 3 months

Residents and motorists at Dakuman in the Greater Accra Region are appealing to authorities to urgently fix a faulty traffic light that has not been working for the past three months.

According to residents, the malfunctioning traffic light at the main Dakuman junction has become a death trap, causing frequent accidents, heavy congestion and confusion among drivers and pedestrians.

They say efforts to get the attention of the Department of Urban Roads and the Municipal Assembly have proved futile, despite several reports made.

Commuters lament that crossing the road, especially for school children and traders, has become extremely dangerous, while drivers struggle to navigate the busy intersection without any regulation.

Some drivers have resorted to directing traffic themselves during rush hours, while others have called for the deployment of police personnel to control traffic to avert further crashes.

They are calling on the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Department of Urban Roads and the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly to as a matter of urgency restore the traffic light and ensure regular maintenance to protect lives and property.
