Empress Gifty Defends Florence Obinim Against BBL Criticism

Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty has come to the defence of fellow gospel artiste Florence Obinim following social media criticism and speculation about her physical appearance.

The controversy emerged after Florence Obinim attended a public programme, where some social media users began suggesting that she had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift, popularly known as BBL.

Reacting to the comments in a video shared on social media on November 1, 2026, Empress Gifty questioned why people, particularly women, were mocking Florence over an alleged cosmetic procedure without considering the physical and emotional challenges associated with surgery.

Empress Gifty, who has openly spoken about undergoing cosmetic procedures herself, described entering an operating theatre as a frightening experience and urged the public to be more considerate when discussing other people’s personal decisions.

She also disclosed that she had previously undergone breast reduction surgery and was planning another dental procedure estimated to cost about $8,000.

According to her, people have different priorities when it comes to spending their money, and nobody should be ridiculed for choosing to invest in their appearance.

The musician further advised individuals considering cosmetic surgery to conduct proper research, consult qualified medical professionals and undergo counselling before making decisions

Her comments have added another dimension to the ongoing conversation about body image, cosmetic procedures and the treatment of female celebrities on social media.
