EU Ambassador meets IGP to strengthen cooperation with Ghana Police Service

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Rune Skinnebach, has paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, as part of efforts to deepen cooperation between the EU and the Ghana Police Service.

The engagement focused on the EU’s ongoing support to the Ghana Police Service, particularly in key areas including police training, community policing, forensic investigations, cyber security, crime scene management and other capacity-building programmes.

The IGP expressed appreciation to the European Union for its continued support and partnership with the Ghana Police Service.

Mr Yohuno also called for strengthened collaboration in critical areas such as cyber security, counter-terrorism, specialised training and community policing, noting the importance of building the Service’s capacity to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.

Ambassador Rune Skinnebach reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to working closely with the Ghana Police Service as a strategic partner in strengthening policing and supporting efforts to promote security and the rule of law in Ghana.

The engagement forms part of broader efforts to enhance international cooperation and strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ghana Police Service in addressing contemporary security challenges.
