The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), with support from the Ghana Police Service, has shut down an unlicensed production facility in Senfi Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, linked to Unni Associates Company Limited, producers of Arcan Bitters.
According to the FDA, the enforcement operation followed reports that the company had continued producing Arcan Bitters despite an earlier directive from the Authority to cease operations.

During the operation, the enforcement team detained 1,580 cartons of finished products, 5,000 empty bottles and 23 barrels of alcohol found at the facility.
The shutdown forms part of the FDA’s efforts to enforce regulatory requirements and prevent the production and distribution of products under conditions that do not meet the Authority’s licensing and safety standards.

The FDA has reiterated its commitment to ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and working with law enforcement agencies to address illegal activities involving products under its mandate.

The Authority maintains that such enforcement measures are necessary to protect consumers and safeguard public health and safety.
