The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is set to establish a second Passport Application Centre (PAC) in the Ashanti Region by the first quarter of 2027, in a move aimed at improving passport services, easing pressure on existing facilities and enhancing convenience for applicants.
The new centre will be located in Mampong, where a facility has already been secured for the project. According to the Ministry, preparations to equip the facility will begin in the coming weeks.
The initiative forms part of efforts to expand access to passport application services in the Ashanti Region, one of Ghana’s most populous regions.
The Ministry noted that the Greater Accra Region currently has three Passport Application Centres, highlighting the policy justification for establishing an additional centre in the Ashanti Region.
The establishment of the new facility is expected to reduce pressure on staff at the existing centre, improve service delivery and make passport application processes more convenient for residents.
Beyond improving public access to passport services, the project is also expected to create employment opportunities in the area.
The planned centre in Mampong underscores the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to expanding passport services and ensuring that more Ghanaians can access essential services with greater ease and efficiency.
