Former NAGRAT President warns against pushing thousands of BECE candidates onto the streets following the new admission reforms.

Former President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu, has questioned proposals to deny over 70,000 BECE candidates placement into Senior High Schools on grounds of low grades.

Speaking in an interview Mr. Carbonu cautioned that refusing to admit the students will have dire social consequences.

According to him, over 54,000 BECE candidates were not placed into public SHS and TVET institutions under the 2026 Free SHS/TVET programme due to their inability to meet the cut-off grades, a situation he described as disheartening .
