Galamsey Kingmakers: Illegal Miners Financing Politics and Controlling Governance – Senyo Hosi

Story By: Deborah Adorsu

Convener of the One Ghana Movement, Senyo Hosi, has raised a grave alarm over the growing influence of illegal mining operators in the political space.

Speaking on the galamsey menace, Mr. Hosi cautioned that persons involved in illegal small scale mining are not only financing political activities but are gradually taking over governance.

According to him, the immense wealth of galamsey operators has positioned them as kingmakers who finance political campaigns, determine elections, and later expect from state institutions to maintain their destructive enterprise.

He called for a non partisan national response to decouple illegal mining wealth from politics and safeguard Ghana’s democracy and natural environment.
