Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held a meeting with China’s Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Cong Song, to review progress on three priority development projects expected to support infrastructure development and public services in the country.

The meeting focused on the Damongo University of Science and Engineering, the Aflao Modern Market Complex, and the refurbishment of the National Theatre.

Following the meeting, Ablakwa confirmed that funding for the three projects remains secured, assuring Ghanaians of continued progress towards their implementation.

He further disclosed that all feasibility reports for the projects have been completed, paving the way for the next phase of preparations.

According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Ghana expects a team of technical experts from China to arrive in the coming weeks to advance work on the three projects and support their commencement.

The Damongo University of Science and Engineering is expected to contribute to higher education and technical skills development, while the Aflao Modern Market Complex is intended to improve trading infrastructure and provide a more organised environment for businesses. The refurbishment of the National Theatre is aimed at supporting the preservation and development of Ghana’s cultural and artistic sector.

Ablakwa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with international development partners, stressing the importance of diplomacy in advancing Ghana’s development agenda.

He noted that Ghana would continue to pursue cooperation with partners across all continents to promote economic transformation, infrastructure development and improved opportunities for its citizens.

The latest engagement with China underscores the continued focus on bilateral cooperation and the implementation of projects identified as priorities for Ghana’s development.
