Ghana Garden And Flower Show Returns With Focus On Green Jobs, Business And Wellbeing

The 14th Ghana Garden and Flower Show officially opens in Accra today, September 11, with organisers placing renewed emphasis on the economic, environmental and social value of Ghana’s green spaces.
The 11-day event will run until September 21 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park under the theme, “Green Means Business, Beauty and More.”
Organised by Strategic Communications Africa Limited, the 2026 edition is expected to bring together horticulture and floriculture industry players, entrepreneurs, exhibitors, policymakers, students, families and members of the general public.
Organisers say the show is designed to demonstrate that gardens, flowers, landscaping and green spaces are about more than beautification.
According to the organisers, the sector can create employment, support businesses, improve livelihoods, contribute to tourism and hospitality, and promote healthier and more liveable communities.
A major component of the programme will be the Green to Riches Conference, which will focus on entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities within the green economy.
The event will also feature masterclasses and demonstrations aimed at providing participants with practical knowledge in gardening, horticulture and landscaping.
For young people and aspiring entrepreneurs, the organisers say the show will provide an opportunity to explore business possibilities within the horticulture and floriculture value chains.
Children will also have dedicated activities through the Little Green Fingers programme and a children’s playground designed to encourage an appreciation for nature and environmental protection.
Other activities during the show include an awards night, music, drama and a Fashion in Bloom presentation.
The organisers believe that Ghana’s growing urban population makes the development of green spaces increasingly important, both for environmental sustainability and for the wellbeing of communities.
The Ghana Garden and Flower Show has, over the years, developed from a gardening awareness initiative into a broader platform promoting environmental consciousness, entrepreneurship and sustainable living.
With this year’s theme, organisers are encouraging Ghanaians to look at the green economy not simply as an environmental cause, but also as a source of jobs, innovation, business opportunities and improved quality of life.
