Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has held discussions with the Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Makhtar Diop, on Ghana’s economic progress and strategies to accelerate private-sector-led growth.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Finance, focused on the Government’s next phase of economic transformation, with emphasis on strengthening commercial agriculture, expanding value addition and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

Dr Forson identified sugar, cocoa processing, palm oil and poultry as key areas where increased private-sector investment could help unlock Ghana’s economic potential. He also outlined the country’s ambition to establish itself as a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa, creating opportunities for local manufacturing and industrial development.

Mr Diop, for his part, commended Ghana’s recent economic progress, particularly the decline in inflation. He reaffirmed the IFC’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s development agenda and working with the Government to attract investment into productive sectors of the economy.

The discussions underscore the importance of private capital and strategic partnerships in supporting Ghana’s economic transformation, boosting local production and creating jobs for the growing population.
