The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement regarding a viral domestic abuse video involving Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua, confirming that investigations are ongoing and that arrangements are being made for the accused to appear before court.
In a press release dated October 7, 2026, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) disclosed that it received a petition from Rosemond Akua Adobea on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband, Harold Norman, had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that a case involving the couple had previously been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries police stations in July 2026.

The statement indicated that following receipt of the petition, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27, 2026, to assist with investigations. A caution statement was subsequently obtained from him.
On August 29, 2026, he was granted police enquiry bail with two sureties while investigations continued.
The police further explained that the accused was scheduled to appear before court on October 7. However, his lawyer informed the police that his client had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to attend the scheduled court proceedings.
Investigators from DOVVSU have since visited the hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure that the accused is arraigned immediately after his discharge.
The CID also disclosed that it is working with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that social welfare services are provided to the complainant and the children.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints brought before the Service are investigated professionally and fairly.
The police statement was signed by Chief Inspector Francis Kwesi Yeboah, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigations Department.
The case has drawn public attention to domestic violence and the importance of ensuring that allegations are investigated thoroughly, victims receive appropriate support, and due process is followed throughout the legal proceedings.
