Ghana has signed a labour cooperation agreement with Russia’s Alabuga Special Economic Zone to facilitate the recruitment of Ghanaian workers for industrial and manufacturing jobs.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, October 29, 2026 by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum and the Director of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, E.R. Safuillin.
The Alabuga Zone, located in the Republic of Tatarstan, is a major industrial hub hosting 48 companies with a combined labour requirement of more than 75,000 workers.
Under the arrangement, Ghana’s Ministry of Labour will take charge of the recruitment process.
The Ministry will coordinate recruitment, verify all job offers, ensure skills matching and provide pre departure orientation to protect the welfare and rights of Ghanaian workers before they travel.
Speaking after the signing, Mr Agyekum said the partnership goes beyond labour migration.
