Ghana has welcomed the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, His Excellency Jeenbek Kulubayev, to Accra for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa received the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister at the Accra International Airport, describing him as a great friend and brother.

The visit marks a significant milestone in Ghana-Kyrgyzstan relations, as Kulubayev becomes the first Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan to visit Ghana. The visit also follows Minister Ablakwa’s historic trip to Kyrgyzstan in March this year, when he became the first Ghanaian Foreign Minister to visit the Central Asian country.

According to Minister Ablakwa, the two countries have continued to build stronger ties, particularly within the multilateral system.

Foreign Minister Kulubayev was also identified as a strong supporter and campaigner for the historic Ghana-led United Nations resolution declaring the transatlantic enslavement of Africans the gravest crime against humanity.

Ghana, in turn, supported Kyrgyzstan’s successful election to the United Nations Security Council this year, further demonstrating the growing diplomatic cooperation between the two nations.

During the two-day visit, the two Foreign Ministers are expected to explore opportunities to deepen bilateral relations and agree on additional areas of strategic collaboration, particularly within the multilateral arena.

The visit is expected to open a new chapter in Ghana-Kyrgyzstan relations as both countries seek to expand diplomatic, political and international cooperation.
