Ghana’s public debt stock has risen to GH¢733.9 billion as of July 2026, representing an increase of GH¢13.1 billion compared with the GH¢720.8 billion recorded in May.
The increase has been attributed largely to growth in domestic debt, according to reports on the latest figures.
The development comes as government continues efforts to manage the country’s debt position while implementing measures aimed at strengthening public finances.
Public debt remains an important economic indicator because changes in the debt stock can affect government expenditure, borrowing requirements and broader fiscal planning.
The latest figures are therefore expected to keep attention focused on Ghana’s debt-management strategy and efforts to maintain economic stability.
Authorities continue to monitor developments in the country’s fiscal position as Ghana works towards improving its financial outlook.
