The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced that it generated US$1.011 billion in foreign exchange from its artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold trade operations in October 2026.

According to an announcement issued by its Finance and Trade Directorate on November 2, 2026, the entire US$1.011 billion generated was sold to authorised commercial banks through the GoldBod GoFX platform to support stability in Ghana’s foreign exchange market.

GoldBod further projected that it would generate approximately US$1.2 billion in foreign exchange from its ASM gold trade operations in November 2026.

Out of the projected amount, US$800 million is expected to be made available to commercial banks to support foreign exchange market stability.

The Board explained that all foreign exchange sales would be conducted through the GoldBod GoFX platform in accordance with the approved FX Sales and Intermediation Framework to ensure transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.

GoldBod also reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its statutory mandate of generating foreign exchange for the country and supporting the accumulation of foreign reserves by the Bank of Ghana.

The Board said its operations would continue to support the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP) as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s foreign reserve position.

The latest figures highlight the contribution of Ghana’s artisanal and small-scale gold trade to foreign exchange generation and efforts to support stability in the country’s currency market.
