IGP engages Okada riders association on road safety and collaboration

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board, has engaged the leadership of the Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG) to discuss concerns affecting riders and strengthen cooperation between the Association and the Ghana Police Service.

The engagement focused largely on road safety, rider training, compliance with traffic regulations and efforts to reduce crime.

The IGP urged the Association to ensure that its members receive proper training in safe riding practices and strictly observe road traffic regulations. He also encouraged ORAG to regularly educate its members on responsible riding to help prevent road crashes and promote safer road use.

Mr. Yohuno further called on the Association to ensure that all members are duly registered and comply with the relevant driving licence and motorcycle registration requirements.

President of ORAG, Mr. Michael Kofi Owusu, expressed the Association’s commitment to working closely with the Police Service to improve the operations of its members, enhance road safety and support efforts to reduce crime.

The IGP assured the riders that the Police Administration would continue engaging with the Association to address their concerns and build stronger cooperation between the two sides.

The engagement forms part of efforts to promote responsible motorcycle use, improve compliance with road safety regulations and strengthen collaboration between the Police Service and okada riders across the country.
