Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar Arrives in Ghana for Two-Day Official Visit

Story by: Regina Bless

India’s Minister of External Affairs, H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, has arrived in Accra to begin a two-day official visit to Ghana from October 6 to 7, 2026.

Dr. Jaishankar was met upon arrival at the Accra International Airport by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for Ghana and India to deepen their longstanding bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Ghana and India have maintained warm and friendly relations, underpinned by shared values and a common vision. The two countries established full diplomatic relations in 1957, shortly after Ghana attained independence.

The visit is also expected to reinforce high-level diplomatic engagement between the two countries, building on previous interactions between their foreign ministers. Minister Ablakwa visited India in March 2025, where he participated in the Raisina Dialogue and held bilateral discussions with Dr. Jaishankar.

Ghana looks forward to a fruitful visit as both countries seek to renew and strengthen their bond of solidarity, shared values and long-standing friendship while exploring opportunities for deeper cooperation.

The visit further highlights the enduring diplomatic ties between Ghana and India and the commitment of both sides to advancing relations for mutual benefit.
