Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang encourages young people to embrace skills training

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has encouraged young people pursuing vocational training to approach their education with patience, dedication and respect for the trainers who impart practical knowledge and experience.

She made the call when she attended the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association’s 2026 National Learners Conference in Kumasi, where she commended the Association for its continued investment in skills development.

Prof. Opoku Agyemang highlighted the important role of tailoring and dressmaking in providing young people with opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship and job creation.

She urged learners to take their training seriously, emphasising that acquiring a trade requires commitment, discipline and a willingness to learn from experienced professionals.

The Vice President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as part of efforts to equip young people with relevant skills, improve productivity and expand employment opportunities.

She noted that practical skills development remains an important pathway toward empowering young people to become economically productive and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The conference provided an opportunity to recognise the contribution of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association to vocational training while encouraging the next generation of artisans to build their careers through hard work, continuous learning and professionalism.
