Newly elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence placed in him and pledged to lead the party with humility, consultation and unity.

In a statement dated October 5, 2026, Mr Boadu thanked the party’s delegates, rank-and-file members, campaign team, volunteers and supporters for their trust and support following his election as National Chairman.

He described his election as a victory for the entire NPP rather than an individual or group, while extending a hand of friendship to his fellow contestants and acknowledging their ideas, experience and commitment to the party.

Mr Boadu pledged to work closely with the newly elected national executives, regional and constituency structures, Members of Parliament, the Council of Elders, TESCON, external branches, voluntary groups, communicators and the media.

He identified rebuilding the party’s structures, promoting discipline and ensuring that members feel valued, heard and protected as key priorities. He also stressed the need to reconnect with young people and strengthen the NPP’s presence in tertiary institutions.

“Unity does not mean uniformity,” Mr Boadu stated, emphasising that the party’s diverse experiences should be treated as a source of strength.

He further pledged to lead through consultation and reconciliation while working to rebuild trust and restore confidence in the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Mr Boadu was elected National Chairman at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi after securing 2,888 votes, defeating Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, who polled 2,408 votes. Paul Afoko received 790 votes, while Sammy Crabbe obtained 41 votes.

The new NPP leadership has now begun its mandate with a focus on organisational renewal and preparing the party for the 2028 elections.
