President John Dramani Mahama has praised the growth of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, describing the company’s transformation from a vehicle distributor into a major automobile assembly company as a remarkable Ghanaian success story.

Speaking at the commissioning of the third phase of the Zonda Tec Ghana Assembly Plant on Tuesday, September 15, President Mahama said the expansion represents a significant step in Ghana’s industrial development and highlights the potential of local manufacturing.

He emphasised that Ghana’s long-term economic prosperity depends on producing more goods locally while expanding the country’s capacity to export finished products.

According to President Mahama, investments such as the Zonda Tec assembly plant demonstrate growing confidence in Ghana’s economy and its workforce, while creating opportunities for decent employment for both current and future generations.

He noted that Zonda Tec began as a vehicle distribution company in 2010 under Madam Yang Yang but has since grown into one of Ghana’s leading assemblers of heavy-duty vehicles, SUVs and small cars.

President Mahama also connected the company’s progress to Ghana’s long-standing pursuit of industrial self-reliance, recalling Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s vision that political independence must be accompanied by economic and industrial independence.

Over the years, Zonda Tec has expanded its operations to include the assembly of passenger vehicles, SUVs and light trucks from various Chinese brands.

The President said the company’s growth, supported by determination, strategic partnerships and sustained investment, has established Zonda Tec as one of the modern vehicle assembly facilities in the West African sub-region.
