Kweku Flick Reveals How Sarkodie’s ‘Messiah’ Saved His Music Career

Story By: Zainab Ali

Ghanaian rapper Kweku Flick has opened up about how his collaboration with award-winning rapper Sarkodie on the song Messiah helped revive his music career during one of the most difficult periods of his life.

In an interview with 3Music, Kweku Flick disclosed that he had considered abandoning music following the death of his father in August 2024. The loss, he explained, left him emotionally affected and uncertain about whether he should continue pursuing his musical ambitions.
According to the rapper, he turned to prayer during that difficult period, asking God for a sign to confirm whether music was still the right path for him.

He said that in November 2024, Sarkodie sent him a song titled Messiah, which he interpreted as an answer to his prayers and an indication that he should not give up on music.

Kweku Flick expressed gratitude to Sarkodie for giving him the opportunity to feature on the song, explaining that the exposure significantly influenced his career.
He further revealed that without the collaboration, he might have shifted his attention entirely to his mineral water business instead of continuing with music.

The rapper also explained how he developed his contribution to the song, saying he immediately connected with Sarkodie’s verses and worked on creating a chorus that would complement the existing composition.

His revelation has highlighted the importance of collaboration and support within Ghana’s music industry, particularly for emerging musicians navigating personal and professional challenges.
