Lil Win Recounts Terrifying Kumasi–Accra Flight Turbulence
Story By: Zainab Ali
Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has recounted a frightening experience aboard a Kumasi–Accra flight that encountered severe turbulence during its journey.
The actor disclosed that he was among the passengers who experienced the incident, describing the situation as frightening and one that left travellers screaming and praying for their safety.
According to Lil Win, he had recently been unwell and hospitalised but travelled to Accra for a meeting ahead of the premiere of his movie at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Recounting the experience, the actor said the aircraft took off during rainy weather before encountering turbulence that caused panic among passengers.
He explained that he was dressed as a pilot at the time and attempted to encourage other passengers to remain calm and pray instead of allowing fear to overwhelm them.
Lil Win further revealed that there was no announcement to reassure passengers during the frightening experience. He also recalled that his pilot’s hat was ripped off as the aircraft encountered the turbulence.
The actor said the aircraft eventually began to stabilise, bringing relief to passengers who had feared the worst.
Reflecting on the incident, Lil Win expressed gratitude for arriving safely and appealed to airline operators to prioritise passenger safety when weather conditions are unfavourable.
He urged airlines to consider delaying flights during heavy rainfall and other adverse weather conditions rather than placing passengers at risk in an attempt to maintain schedules.
His account comes after former Bantama Member of Parliament, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, also spoke about the flight experience and called for a full investigation into the incident.
