President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned an 85-bed ward complex at the Ghana Police Hospital as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery for police personnel, their families and the general public.

The commissioning forms part of the government’s broader commitment to strengthening the welfare of security personnel through improved medical facilities, better accommodation and enhanced operational support for the Ghana Police Service.

As part of the intervention, President Mahama presented two ambulances to the hospital to support emergency medical services and improve the transportation of patients requiring urgent care.

The President also announced plans to allocate GH¢200 million towards the expansion of the Ghana Police Hospital, a move expected to strengthen its capacity to provide healthcare services and accommodate more patients.

In addition to the healthcare investments, President Mahama outlined further measures to improve the working conditions of police officers. These include plans to provide additional armoured vehicles for the Police Service to enhance its operational capabilities.

The President further announced that GH¢300 million would be made available in the 2027 Budget for the construction of 250 housing units for police personnel.

The proposed housing investment is intended to address accommodation needs within the Service and provide officers with improved living conditions as they carry out their duties.

The initiatives highlight the government’s focus on police welfare, access to specialised healthcare and the provision of essential resources to support law enforcement.

The expansion of the Police Hospital, coupled with investments in ambulances, security equipment and housing, is expected to contribute to improving the well-being of police personnel while strengthening the Service’s capacity to protect the public.
