Mahama inspects proposed site for new Wa airport

President John Dramani Mahama has concluded his two-day working visit to the Upper West Region with an inspection of the proposed site for the construction of a new Wa Airport.

The inspection formed part of the President’s #ResettingGhanaTour of the region and reflects the government’s efforts to advance critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic development.

The proposed Wa Airport is expected to play an important role in strengthening transportation links between the Upper West Region and other parts of Ghana, while creating opportunities for trade, investment and tourism.

Improved air connectivity could also support the movement of people and goods, enhance access to markets and contribute to the growth of businesses within the region.

The inspection underscores the government’s focus on addressing infrastructure needs outside the major urban centres and ensuring that development projects contribute to balanced national development.

President Mahama’s visit to the proposed airport site brought his two-day working tour of the Upper West Region to a close, following engagements and inspections of various government projects and initiatives.

The development of critical infrastructure such as the proposed Wa Airport is expected to complement ongoing efforts to stimulate economic activity and improve opportunities for communities across the Upper West Region.
