NDC Ashanti Chair Seeks Retention Ahead Of Polls
Story By: Deborah Adorsu
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Andrew Augustus Nana Akwasi, has told delegates to retain him in the upcoming November regional election.
He said consistency is key to securing and sustaining the party’s gains in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking to Media General’s Evans Nkum on Sunday November 2 2026, Nana Akwasi said his leadership has transformed the NDC’s standing in a region traditionally seen as hostile to the party.
He said people are now proud to be associated with the NDC in Ashanti and daily inquiries come from individuals wanting to join the party. He attributed this to years of sacrifice and results.
He described the opposition NPP as seeing him as their nightmare and said he will continue to hunt them down but needs the power from delegates.
Nana Akwasi is seeking re-election in the NDC regional executive elections scheduled for November 15 2026.
He has assured party executives that none will lose their position if he is retained, dismissing claims of a planned purge as false.
He urged members to end post election celebrations and focus on consolidating gains to secure a landmark victory in the 2028 general elections.
