NPP Faults Government Approach To Constitutional Review Insists On Wider Stakeholder Engagement
Story By: Deborah Adorsu
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rejected what it describes as an attempt by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to unilaterally rewrite the 1992 Constitution.
Speaking on behalf of the party, NPP Policy Committee Chair, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the party cannot support the current approach pursued by the government in reviewing Ghana’s constitutional order.
According to him, attempts to make fundamental changes to the 1992 Constitution must involve a broader, more inclusive and consultative process that goes beyond partisan interests.
