Oti Police intercept articulator truck with 5,164 suspected narcotic parcels

The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted an articulator truck allegedly being used to transport suspected narcotic substances concealed in secret compartments.

The interception, which followed an intelligence-led operation on September 14, 2026, involved a DAF articulator truck with registration number GE 3906-15.

According to the Police, a search of the truck’s concealed compartments led to the discovery of 5,164 compressed round parcels suspected to contain narcotic substances.

Three persons were arrested in connection with the consignment. They are Abdul Razak Adamu, 35, the driver; Jubril Amidu, 33, a mechanic; and Aliu Adamu, 33, also a driver.

A fourth occupant of the truck, identified as Adamu Iddi, reportedly escaped during the operation, with Police efforts ongoing to apprehend him.

On September 17, 2026, the three arrested suspects were arraigned before the Dambai Circuit Court, presided over by His Lordship Justice Dr. Moses Bedima Duut.

The court remanded the suspects into Police custody to reappear on October 15, 2026.

The truck has since been impounded, while the suspected narcotic exhibits have been secured to support ongoing investigations.

The Oti Regional Police Command said efforts are continuing to apprehend the escaped suspect and identify other individuals who may be connected to the consignment.

The Command has reaffirmed its commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and organised crime in the region and urged the public to provide credible information that could assist the Police in their investigations.
