Story by: Regina Bless
Veteran Nigerian actor and African screen legend Pete Edochie has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, during his visit to Ghana.
The visit formed part of Mr Edochie’s engagements in Ghana ahead of the launch of his African Legacy Project, an initiative designed to celebrate Africa’s heritage while investing in the continent’s younger generation.
The African Legacy Project comprises a book, a documentary film and an African Youth Mentorship Initiative, which seeks to reach approximately 500,000 young people across Africa through mentorship and empowerment opportunities.
During the meeting, Sammy Gyamfi welcomed the opportunity for GoldBod to support the youth mentorship initiative, noting its alignment with the Board’s Special Intervention Programme, particularly its focus on social impact and economic empowerment.
GoldBod’s work also features in Pete Edochie’s new book, which highlights Ghana’s efforts to harness its gold resources in ways that contribute to national development.
The engagement between the two African figures therefore provided an opportunity to explore areas of collaboration, particularly in youth development, mentorship and initiatives aimed at empowering the next generation.
Pete Edochie’s visit comes as part of his broader efforts to promote an African legacy and encourage young people across the continent to take an active role in shaping Africa’s future.
