Pete Edochie Reveals What Has Helped Him Stay Married For 57 Years

Veteran Nigerian actor Pete Edochie has opened up about his 57-year marriage, sharing some of the habits and personal principles he believes have helped him remain committed to his wife for nearly six decades.

The actor made the remarks during his Legacy Gala in Accra after being asked about his long-lasting marriage. Edochie said he married young and has never allowed other women to easily distract him from his relationship.

He also pointed to his Christian faith, reading and his love for classical music as some of the things that have helped shape his lifestyle. According to him, he spends a considerable amount of time at home reading or listening to music, keeping himself occupied rather than seeking distractions elsewhere.

Edochie also spoke strongly against domestic violence, saying disagreements in marriage should never become an excuse for physical violence against women.

His comments have attracted attention partly because they come at a time when conversations about relationships, marriage and domestic violence are receiving renewed attention in Ghana following the widely discussed Nana Akua Addo case.

Beyond his comments on marriage, Edochie has also been in Ghana promoting an African mentorship initiative aimed at passing knowledge and experience from established personalities to younger Africans.
