Petrol, Diesel And LPG Prices Expected To Rise From September 16

Fuel consumers across Ghana could face higher prices from Wednesday, September 16, 2026, following a projection by the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) that petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices are likely to increase.

According to COPEC, the expected adjustment is largely linked to developments in the international petroleum market.

Petrol is projected to rise by about 4.24 percent, from an average of GH¢15.60 to GH¢16.26 per litre. Diesel, meanwhile, is expected to record a sharper increase of approximately 10.23 percent, moving from GH¢17.30 to GH¢19.07 per litre.

The projected price of LPG is also expected to increase to about GH¢15.32 per kilogramme.

The anticipated adjustment could have wider implications for households, commercial drivers and businesses, particularly those whose operations depend heavily on fuel.

Any sustained increase in fuel prices can affect transportation costs and, indirectly, the prices of goods and services as businesses factor higher operational and distribution expenses into their pricing.

For commercial drivers and transport operators, the development could add pressure to already significant running costs, while commuters may also become concerned about possible increases in transport fares.

Consumers will, however, have to wait for the official pricing decisions from petroleum industry players to determine the actual prices that will prevail from the new pricing window.

The projected increase comes at a time when developments in the international oil market continue to influence fuel prices in Ghana.

COPEC’s projection therefore puts renewed attention on the relationship between global petroleum prices and the cost of fuel at the pump in Ghana.
