Release Ghana Jollof Immediately; CID Has No Concrete Evidence Against Her

Ashanti Regional Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Emmanuel Chambers, has called for the immediate release of Salomey Awitty Baffour, an alleged accomplice of Ghana Jollof.

According to him, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has failed to provide any concrete evidence to prove that Ghana Jollof was recruited by anyone to propagate her videos online.

Speaking on the matter, Mr. Chambers said the continuous detention of the social media personality is unjustified and raises serious concerns about the independence of the security agencies under the current NDC administration.

“While the CID has no concrete evidence to show that Ghana Jollof was recruited to propagate her videos, she should be released. Moreover, it feels like the CID is being pressured under the current administration to take such a deadly move,” he stated.

He described the action as a dangerous precedent and an attack on freedom of expression, arguing that state institutions should not be used as tools to settle political scores.

Mr. Chambers further alleged that the pressure being mounted on the CID is politically motivated and intended to silence voices critical of persons affiliated with the government.

He urged the Police administration to remain professional and not allow itself to be used to intimidate citizens, stressing that Ghana’s democracy thrives on free speech.

He called on civil society organizations, the Ghana Bar Association, and human rights activists to speak up against what he termed as arbitrary detention and abuse of power.
