September Begins With New Push to Get Ghanaians Living Healthier

By Zainab Ali

The month of September is being marked by a renewed focus on healthy living in Ghana as Channel One TV and Citi FM launch a month-long Healthy Living Project aimed at encouraging people to adopt healthier everyday habits.

The initiative is being held under the theme “Changing Habits. Transforming Lives”, with the broader call, “Ghana, Let’s Live Healthy Together.”

The project brings together medical professionals, nutritionists, fitness experts and other specialists to provide practical information on healthier living through television, radio and digital platforms.

Rather than presenting healthy living as something that requires dramatic overnight changes, the project focuses on small and practical habits that people can incorporate into their everyday routines.

One of the key areas of focus is nutrition. Participants are being encouraged to pay greater attention to what they eat and to make healthier choices when preparing and consuming meals.

Another focus is maintaining a healthy weight. The project seeks to encourage people to think about weight from a health perspective rather than treating it purely as an issue of physical appearance.

Hydration and physical activity also form part of the campaign. Participants are encouraged to develop habits that support their overall wellbeing, including drinking adequate water and incorporating regular movement into their daily routines.

The campaign also places emphasis on making healthy habits sustainable. Instead of treating healthy living as a temporary challenge, the goal is to encourage people to develop routines they can maintain over the long term.

One of the practical challenges highlighted during the project is regular physical activity, including brisk walking. The initiative encourages participants to make time for movement as part of their daily routine.

The organisers believe that community support can make it easier for people to maintain healthy habits. Sharing experiences, participating in challenges and learning from health professionals can help people stay motivated.

As September begins, the Healthy Living Project is therefore seeking to turn conversations about health into practical action, encouraging Ghanaians to make small changes that can contribute to healthier lives over time.
