SHS Placement Exercise Extended By One Week As Ministry Resolves Outstanding Cases

The Ministry of Education has extended the 2026 Senior High School (SHS) placement exercise by one week to allow students with unresolved placement issues to complete the necessary processes before schools reopen.

The extension means the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centres will remain operational until Friday, September 18, 2026, according to the Ministry.

The decision is expected to provide additional relief to students, parents and guardians who have encountered difficulties with their placements since the release of the 2026/2027 placement results.

The Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Hashmin Mohammed, announced the extension as part of efforts to resolve outstanding cases before the reopening of schools.

The Ministry had earlier experienced delays in the release of the placement results, with the process eventually opening to students and parents in September.

The latest extension is intended to ensure that qualified students who still have unresolved placement concerns are given the opportunity to secure school placements.

For many families, the SHS placement process is a crucial stage in determining where students will continue their secondary education. Placement challenges can therefore create considerable anxiety, particularly as the new academic year approaches.

The Ministry has consequently urged affected students and parents to use the available resolution channels to address their concerns rather than waiting until schools reopen.

The extension also comes at a time when parents and students are preparing for the start of the new academic year.

With the resolution centres scheduled to operate until September 18, education authorities are expected to intensify efforts to clear the remaining cases and ensure that students can begin the academic year without prolonged uncertainty.

The Ministry’s latest move is therefore aimed at giving affected students a final opportunity to resolve their placement challenges and secure admission ahead of the reopening of schools.
