Three suspects arrested over kidnap and murder of Nana Yaw Kyere

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026.

According to a police press release issued on September 28, 2026, the suspects are Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai. Their arrests followed investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit.

Police investigations indicate that Nana Yaw Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026, in his Honda Civic vehicle and did not return.

The Police said preliminary investigations established that he was allegedly lured to Philip Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.

According to the Police, the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement. The Police said a confrontation occurred at the residence, during which the victim sustained injuries and was subsequently left unattended.

Investigators further established that the victim’s body was later transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to an area near the motorway, where it was abandoned. The body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21, 2026, and was subsequently identified by the victim’s biological mother and an uncle at the Police Hospital mortuary on September 24.

The Police also recovered the victim’s iPhone 12, which investigators say Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The alleged buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained in connection with the suspected unlawful receipt of the phone.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated over the alleged disposal of the body. His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which Police believe may have been used to transport the body, has also been impounded.

The three suspects remain in Police custody and are expected to be put before the court as investigations continue.

The Ghana Police Service said investigations are also ongoing to identify and arrest any other persons who may have been involved in the case.

The suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
