Communal labor* — in Ghana we call it _nnoboa_, _asomdwe_, or just "community work". It’s when people in a community come together to do work that benefits everyone, without expecting direct pay. 1. How it works 1. *Who*: Members of a town, village, church group, school PTA, or compound house 2. *What*: Clean drains, cut grass, repair roads, build a school block, paint a clinic, weed public spaces 3. *When*: Usually early Saturday morning. In many places there’s a siren, gong-gong, or WhatsApp announcement 4. *Why*: "Many hands make light work" + shared responsibility for the environment
